As you get out past the 7 inch length the shears cannot afford the same flexibility as a shorter shears can and require more girth to maintain a consistent cut all the way to the tip.

I got this shear a few months ago in the 8.5 inch model.  My customer told me that she has noticed her haircuts have been better since I got them.  I figure if my customer noticed then they must be nice.  I didn't know if I should go with this long of a shear, but it is all I use now.  Amazing!
