Shear Care and Maintenance: 

Take care of your shears, and they will take care of you.  A pair of shears should last your entire carrier as a hair stylist.  Of course this requires proper care and maintenance. 

The number one reason that shears dull prematurely is improper storage. 

The number one reason shears are ruined is from improper sharpening.  Follow these simple instructions and take care of your #1 tool. 

Daily: 

    • Check tension
    • Wipe shears down after each client
    • Clean with soapy water or baby wipe
    • Dry shears completely
 
 

Weekly: 

    • Lubricate <link>
 
 

Monthly: 

    • Check sharpness <link>
 
 

Every 500 Haircuts: 

    • Have shears sharpened by Hattori Hanzo <link>
