Antonio L. Heath Sr. was born and raised on the North East Side of Detroit, Michigan. He fell in love with cutting hair in 1984 at the age of 15. He was encouraged by his older brother to take it serious and make it a career. He enrolled into Michigan Barber School in Detroit, Michigan in 1987. He graduated with high honors in 1989.
He worked in various barbershops for 14 years, and decided to open his own shop in 2003 “Frankiez Barbershop” named after his late mom Frankie. He closed down in 2013 and went to manage as a partner at Image Xprezzion Barbershop for 2 years. He’s been a licensed, professional barber for 26 years. He now owns a private studio…The Tonsorial Shave inside of Sola Salons in Birmingham, Michigan.
He has multiple barber licenses and he’s a platform artist and educator. I know that barbering is art. It’s the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form. Just like art…a masterpiece cannot be duplicated and an artist cannot be imitated.
Whether it's the cover of Vogue, New York Fashion week, or Back Stage on Broadway you will find our shears going to work, making the world we live in a more beautiful place.
